‘ …will require buyers to pay $198 to get Bullfrog to inject enough electricity from renewable sources into the grid to power the vehicle for two years.’ The cost of the Volt is already too high and this will make it cost just that much more. Lower the cost of the Volt, GM! Cheaper alternative fuels from algae, bacteria, the biomass or the waste stream. Cheaper renewable energy from solar, wind, hydro, thermal, tidal and/or nuclear to replace the oil that will not be there one day. NO electricity produced from coal, oil or natural gas. EV’s and Inbreds need a much longer driving/battery range, a different kind of ‘quick charge’ battery or charged battery swap, and a reasonable battery replacement price when that battery finally dies. *Develop an EV battery pack that does not overheat with operation of the vehicle, when charging or in long term storage. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle is, produce and ‘drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Not for me yet, may be when the price is reasonable and the vehicles have proven themselves reliable.

If people wish to pay for it then I'm not going to stop them. Seems like a dumb idea that is fine as long as I don't have to pay for it.

Strange concept. It only increases the price to consumers. How does it help sales?

Sounds like something Al Gore would buy to show off while his estate's monthly electric bill is something like $4000/month. All image, no substance.

PithyOpiner: Hate to tell you this, but it has nothing to do with Canada and everything to do the misguided souls at the helm of Genereal Motors, of whom GM Canada has little or no leeeway with.

The renewable power does not have any real bearing on the electricity that the car is able to use. Just marketing hype.

Electric vehicles have to be charged someway to make up for federal and state gasoline taxes someway. But this doesn't sound like a fair way to collect money for road building and maintenance.

The EVs and hybrids are going to get very popular when gas goes over $6.00 per gallon.
